A short break with God
Bible Verses and Prayers for Every Feeling
Every feeling below opens to a short passage from the King James Bible and a prayer to go with it. No sign-up, no sermon — just the verse you need, in about a minute.
Take one quiet minute each day. Every day you come back, your sprout grows a new leaf and the flower opens a little more.

What VerseBreak is
VerseBreak is a free website for people who want a few quiet minutes with the Bible. Most of us do not have an hour for devotions on a hard day, but almost everyone has a minute. So each page here is built around something you can finish in about that long: one verse, one prayer, and a few sentences to carry with you.
How to use the feelings above
Pick the card that sounds most like today. There are thirty-six, grouped under four headings: Heavy Days, Fear & Worry, Heart & Spirit, and Life, Hope & Gratitude. Each one opens a short passage from the King James Bible, a prayer to go with it, and a few lines of encouragement. The content for each feeling changes every Monday, so a card you opened last week will show something new this week.
If you do not see your feeling, type a word such as sleep, grief or anger into the search box. You can read the prayer on its own, copy it, or use Share to make a picture or a short video of the verse for a friend.
Why the King James Version
The King James Version was first published in 1611 and has been read aloud in homes and churches ever since. Its words can sound old, with thee and thou in place of you, but many people find the rhythm easy to remember. It is also in the public domain in the United States, so we can quote it in full. Every verse on this site is copied from the KJV text. The prayers and reflections beside the verses are written in plain modern English.
A note on care
A prayer is not a replacement for a doctor, a counselor or a friend. If what you are feeling is affecting your sleep, your work or your safety, please talk to someone you trust or to a professional. In the United States you can call or text 988 at any time to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Outside the U.S., contact your local emergency number.
